A regular meditation practice.

This week’s topic for reflection is the value of a regular meditation practice. As we try to successfully navigate a stressful, challenging life, it’s easy to spin off into a kind of chaotic confusion. I find myself lost in confusion as to where I was going or what I was needing to do next. It’s kind of a disorientation toward what is needed and how to appropriately respond. In times of greater change this frustrating difficulty can increase significantly. It feels like my life is a mess.

Having a regular meditation practice brings sanity to the chaos. Simply set aside a regular time to sit still, return to the  breath and be present. Temporarily set aside the many things needing to be done and relax. Be still. Sit up and relax into the breath. Let it go. Let it be. Allow a bit of spaciousness and openness to return. Don’t force it. With each exhalation, let go of tightness and resistance. For a moment, it’s okay. However it is, it’s okay.

As you become more centered and balanced, notice what is actually happening around you and inside of you. Let go of any judging or comparing and just notice. Without a need to go anywhere or get anywhere, notice. It’s okay.

It’s very helpful to return to this meditation practice on a regular basis wether it’s easy or hard, convenient or not, whatever the situation within reason. Meditation helps with the ability to cope.

Please join us for morning Zoom zazen from 7:00 to 7:30 Tuesday and Thursday, and Sunday morning Zoom zazen and discussion of the topic for reflection blog from 8:00 to 9:00 Pacific Time. Here’s the Zoom link:
