My Earth Suit.

ree

This week’s topic for reflection is My Earth Suit. This afternoon it stopped raining and the sun came out so I put on a jacket and extra pair of pants and went out into the woods behind our house. It was a beautiful autumn day. Going outside and walking in the woods is like putting on my earth suit. It’s a familiar place and it’s always different, interesting, broken and beautiful. During the rain it was windy so a lot was in disarray. I feel at home there. I’m not in a hurry there whether it’s five minutes or a few hours.

It’s important to have a refuge to go to. It could be a friend or group of friends. It might be simply relaxing with breathing or being present. Relax inside and outside. I’ve heard some people find cooking a refuge. It’s doing something thoroughly to the point where you can loose yourself in it.

What is your earth suit? Don’t get too busy to find time to visit with each other. Visit whenever you need to refresh and enliven.

Please join us for morning Zoom zazen from 7:00 to 7:30 Tuesday and Thursday, and Sunday morning Zoom zazen and discussion of the topic for reflection blog from 8:00 to 9:00 Pacific Time. Here’s the Zoom link:

I like this article. They call it forest bathing. I think it is important to find a way and place that you can be without a purpose. The hard part is letting go of the goal of being without a purpose. The forest helps because its only purpose is being together.
