Color your life.

ree

This week’s topic for reflection is color your life. Please remember some of the key and beautiful times of your life. Who were the people, what did you do, where did you go? Seek out and listen to music you enjoyed in the past. Isn’t it wonderful? Let your memories color the joy of this moment.

I remember being a child, riding my bike around the neighborhood promising my mother, “I’ll be home when the street lights come on.” Oh what marvelous freedom and fun! I also remember being a young adult doing foolish things. Guardian angels saved my life on a number of occasions. Wow, was that really me? I learned we are never alone and we are always loved and looked after.

What are the things that are coloring your life right now? Grab the paint brush and paint them vivid colors by experiencing them more directly and fully. Look at the large landscapes and the small details that make up your experience. See the wide world around you and the taste of a bite of food. Notice how it changes and functions. It changes us and we change it and the change keeps going.

This morning Senkei got up a little early, went out on the deck and opened up her experience to the new day beginning. The birds singing. The sky turning lighter and more blue. A wispy cloud changing color. The cool air. A blanket for warmth. Oh, such lovely colors.

Remember to include events that were difficult, harmful and challenging. They add color and texture and are very important. An important part of being human are the difficulties life present to us and how we approach them and deal with them and how they change us.

Since you’re reading this post you have the benefit of a human body with eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin and thought. Slow down a bit and experience more fully the sensations offered to you. What is it like to be embodied as a human being? Labeling the experience as good or bad is extra and not needed. Don’t over think it. Everything and every experience is important and valuable. As Master Ummon told us, “Everyday is a good day.” This day is a good day. He didn’t mean good as apposed to bad. He meant good as in colorful, interesting and that it should be experienced fully. Don’t waste it by wishing if only I could be somewhere else doing something else. Choose the life you have and make the most of it. Color it my interesting life.
