Love.

This week’s topic for reflection is love. Love is a term that is used to express many things, from a fleeting infatuation to a timeless, selfless abiding. Love is the permission to participate, to see and be seen. Here are a few of my reflections on love.

Unconditional-unbreakable-forever-no matter what love. Wide open. A relationship bigger than both of us. Receiving-sharing love through zazen. Love is an equal sign. You can’t give something you don’t have or receive something you don’t understand. Life without love would be like the world without water or air. True love is effortless. Love is not transactional, it’s freely given and received. Love is patient. Giving away love creates more love. When you love someone you would do anything for them. God is love which is the whole thing selflessly functioning together, our true face. Small children and puppy dogs are expressions of love. Love expresses quality not quantity.

“What the world needs now, is love sweet love. That’s the only thing that there’s just too little of. No not just for some but for everyone.”

This week please remember love as often as you can. How do you see it? Where do you see it? What difference does it make? Perhaps take notes or write a poem. Here are two of mine.

Yes I would love to

So long as we’re together

I have all I need

Hearing the rain fall

So satisfying the sound

From inside the house
